Renowned Spanish tennis player David Ferrer has expressed unwavering confidence that Rafael Nadal will continue his professional tennis career into 2025, provided he avoids injuries and setbacks for the remainder of the year. Nadal, who underwent surgery for a psoas muscle injury after the 2023 Australian Open, initiated his comeback in Brisbane at the start of the season.
Nadal, in response to queries about his retirement plans, acknowledged the possibility of extending his career beyond 2024 but emphasized the need to feel healthy and competitive. Despite a promising start in Brisbane with impressive victories, Nadal faced a setback in the quarterfinals due to a “micro tear” injury.
Ferrer, a former top-ranked player, expressed confidence in Nadal’s continued competitiveness if he remains injury-free. Speaking to Marca, Ferrer stated, “If he doesn’t have any injuries, he will be competitive, and if he is competitive, he will continue for another year.”
Nadal, skipping the Australian Open and Doha, is set to participate in an exhibition match against Carlos Alcaraz in Las Vegas before the Indian Wells Masters.
