Roddick explained, “She went to an appearance that was probably the reason why she…Maybe I’m projecting here but it’s not out of bounds. She went to this thing, took a picture sitting down, no drink in hand, no nothing. Party? The headline’s impossible!”
The British media had suggested that Raducanu’s poor performance in Doha, resulting in a first-round loss to Anhelina Kalinina, was somehow connected to her appearance at the Dubai event. Roddick challenged this narrative, highlighting the sensationalism surrounding Raducanu’s commitments.
Despite facing criticism, Raducanu showed resilience on the court in Doha. In a challenging match against Kalinina, Raducanu faced two match points but fought back to force a tie-break in the second set. Ultimately, Kalinina secured the victory, but Raducanu’s fighting spirit was evident.
